Ethanol Cooking Fuel (ECF) is a fast, safe and affordable alternative to charcoal and kerosene. It is derived from starch sources, such as cassava. ECF does not result in air pollution and is comparable to liquid petroleum gas (LPG) as a clean cooking fuel, but at a more affordable price.
Locally produced ethanol from cassava feedstock can realize a circular economy where local farmers in Kenya participate to produce ECF for local consumption, creating thriving communities and shared prosperity across the value chain.
